Sydney, with a population of almost 4 million, and covering
almost 1120 square kilometres (700 square miles), is Australia's biggest,
oldest and most cosmopolitan city. It is surrounded by beautiful beaches
and national parks, and makes for one of the world's most attractive countries.
Sydney Harbour splits the city into North and South; its
250 km of shoreline can be explored on ferries, yachts, cruise vessels,
high-speed jet boats or sea kayaks.
The most well known beach is the fabulous Bondi Beach,
which lies some 10 km from the city. Manly Beach is another very famous,
popular and superb beach, and the ferry ride to reach it takes about 30
minutes.
Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge are "must
do" tourist attractions, and Sydney Tower and the Pennant Hills Koala
Park should also be seen.
